Berrybrae

Nearest Town: Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire
OS Grid Reference: NK 02 85 72
Directions: On a minor road linking the A952 and A90. Heading north on the A90, go through the village of Crimond, past the farm of Netherton on your left (Another stone circle exists in this property) and look for a left turn in less than a mile between two white cottages. Proceed to the crossroads, go straight across and park immediately on the left. Walk straight on, up lane for 100m and circle is in the field on your left through the gate. It stands in the grove of trees.
Site Notes: An excellent, although ruinous circle, Berrybrae has much to recommend it. Wrecked thousands of years ago, the boat like recumbent and one huge flanking stone still stand, along with two other of the circle stones. The other flanker has been shattered, and left where it fell, and the other circle stones are only stumps. Pieces of rose quartz big and small are scattered across the site, and the rubble bank typical to this style of circle make walking around difficult. The trees need to be thinned and the nettles cut down to fully appreciate this circle, but it is a worthwhile visit nonetheless.
