Nearest Town: Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire

OS Grid Reference: NJ 82 32 49

Directions: On the A947 heading south from Oldmeldrum take the second right for Longside. On this minor road, take the next right, past the farm of Sheldon, just before the road bends left, the circle is to your right in a field, at the crest of the hill. Park carefully on verge, free entry.

Site Notes: Just around the corner from Kirkton of Bourtie, this site is spectacular. Although ruined, seven large stones remain upright, and there is a wild jumble of stone within the circle – possibly cairns, or field clearance or even circle stones. There is no obvious recumbent, although this may have been destroyed or never have been present. For all this though, the views are spectacular. 360 degrees around, with views of the major summits of the area, Bennachie and Mither Tap, you can only imagine what this place was like 4000 years ago. A number easily written, but much harder to imagine.
