Directions: Signposted from main Stromness to Finstown road, large car park and reasonably flat access. Can be very busy!

Site Notes: An immense stone circle, and although the majority of stones are fallen/missing enough remain to get a sense of the scale of the site.

Like nearby Stenness, it suffers slightly from over-visiting but the best way to get around this is simply to spend longer – most people spend about 5 minutes here and disappear, but a stay of an hour or longer is well rewarded, and should include walking around the adjacent barrows and single standing stones. We know so little about this site, though more is coming to light every year, and there is no doubt it was and is a very special place.  One to be savoured.
