Directions: Signposted from main Stromness to Finstown road, easy parking and flat access. Can be very busy!

Site Notes: Though technically a ruin, as the majority of the 12 stones are long gone, there is still plenty to see here. This is mainly due to the Orcadian stone that has resulted in these flat, sharp and very thin megaliths that you can see. The circle stands within a henge, which has been ploughed out to the extent that if the grass wasn’t cut (by sheep) you probably wouldn’t notice it.

Being a very busy ’show site’ the never-ending stream of coaches and visitors can be wearing, but make the effort to get here early or late and you may just get it to yourself. Views to the Ring of Brodgar, Maes Howe and the surrounding landscape really make you feel like your at the centre of something…..
